WHERE THE KLARÄLVEN RIVER MEETS LAKE VÄNERN
Mariebergsskogen lies at the heart of the Klarälven delta, where the river meets Lake Vänern - a varied landscape with an exhibition that playfully tells the story of the surrounding countryside. The area also offers plenty of opportunities to stroll around taking in the splendours of nature. Walking trails thread their way through the impressing 300 year-old pines of the old forest to Marieberg's waterside meadows. This area of unique natural beauty has been made easily accessible with dressed paths, bird-watching towers and hides. You are almost sure to see coots and yellow wagtails and if you're lucky even ospreys.
On warm summer days there's nothing better than a dip in Lake Vänern. The south-facing beach, with its changing rooms and toilets, also has and ice-cream kiosk, minigolf, boules courts and a beach volleyball court open in the summer. In winter the ice-skating is perhaps at its best when several hundred torches are lit along Mariebergsviken's ploughed skating track.
Mariebergsskogen always offers wide open spaces to enjoy.
