A PROMISE WORTH KEEPING
The donation to the City of Karlstad was made after Conrad Höök's death in 1895. His appeal has been followed over the years, with the town standing firmly by its promise and allowing Mariebergsskogen to retain its unique character.
In 1925 Mariebergsskogen was declared an open-air museum and public recreation area by its founder Wilhelm Welin. Throughout ist history Mariebergsskogen has moved with the times, meeting public demand for innovation and change. Over the years Mariebergsskogen has been presented not only as an open-air museum, but also as a zoo, amusement park and city park. Every visitor has their own special memories, their own story - because Mariebergsskogen has seen love blossom, nature bloom, children play and the seasons change time and again. |
